Practical training sessions designed for occupational therapists seeking to broaden their understanding of home modifications.

Interactive learning.

Our sessions use an interactive approach to help learners bridge theory to practice. We have discovered that developing competency in home modifications involves more than just referencing access standards or considering building codes…it involves listening to clients, assessing their individual needs, exploring options together, and using clinical reasoning to formulate strong recommendations.

We are inclusive in how we think and how we teach with each session designed to suit the learning needs of those attending. Inclusive OT runs sessions in small groups of up to 15 participants to ensure that you get the most of of the learning experience. We also plan to offer online workshops for participants who are unable to attend face to face sessions. We provide inclusive education to suit your learning needs and encourage you to share any specific learning requirements so that we can adapt our teaching around it.

Our training workshops are specifically designed for new graduate therapists with less than 12 months’ experience, early career OT’s or those needing a ‘refresher’. The aim of these sessions is to enhance the confidence and clinical reasoning in the assessment and prescription of home modifications.

All our workshops are run in small groups, and include a practical component using case studies and activities to enhance the learning experience of each participant. Visit our Events page for details.

Resources for OT’s.

HMinfo provides Home Modification resources to support Home Modification service providers, researchers, and occupational therapists. These resources include research publications and technical publications, by HMinfo and others, as well as research data, guides, and practical tools. Inclusive OT is a strong advocate of HMinfo resources for OT’s who want to find out more about home modifications. We encourage all OT’s working in home mods to join the HMInfo OT Listserve.
